The Making of My January New Moon Page Spread

The New Moon came in on January 27, 2017. It is a time to set your intention(s) for the new cycle. I have posted a simple ritual that you can use for your Self on my Kintsugi Living Method website. It includes a recorded guided meditation that can be used as well.

Enjoy the video of my New Moon Manifesting. I hope you too are sowing the seeds of intention (manifesting) during this powerful energetic time in the Light of the New Moon. It’s not too late to set your intentions! Do so today!!

Mythical Goddess Tarot

It’s Friday! (in my best David Hanes voice…)

And around these parts that means it’s time for us to pull a card from one of the decks of wisdom that I have. Today’s card pull is from the Mythical Goddess Tarot by Author Sage Holloway and Artist Katherine Skaggs.

Tonight is the night of the New Moon. New Moon means New Beginnings. On the night of the New Moon we call to ourselves that which we want to set into motion during this next cycle. It is a time to plant new seeds that will manifest in our future. Tonight, I pulled the Child of Earth Design card — so apropos… Continue reading

Chakra Wisdom Oracle Cards

I have decided to pull a weekly oracle card from one of 3 oracle card decks each Friday. Something fun for us to do to help us focus our thoughts, spark creativity, and work in our journals. This week is our first week, and I have chosen the Chakra Wisdom Oracle Cards as our first deck to select from.

As I was shuffling the cards, I set my intention to pull a card for this group (ARTiculated Journaling) that would help us focus on Self and begin the healing process. Below is the card which was pulled, along with an excerpt from the accompanying Guidebook. Join us in our Facebook Group for my thoughts and to share your thoughts with others in the group:

ARTiculated Affirmations

Part of my morning ritual is to say affirmations out loud. Affirmations are used for many things, but are a way in which to affirm the positives in your life. They can be inspirational words or phrases from famous people or statements that you cultivate yourself about your own Self and life.

Often, negative self-talk can be reframed and become an affirmation of Self. For example, if you are up for a promotion at work and your mind starts telling you “I am not good enough to get the promotion. I don’t have all the skills required for the position.”, you can turn those very words around and make them into an affirmation instead:

“I am the perfect choice for the promotion. I have enough skills to get the job done and with every job change there are new skills to learn. I will embrace learning the skills I need to be successful in my new position and get the job done.”

Turn that frown upside down by affirming the positive! You wouldn’t be considered for the promotion if the skills you lack were an issue. Stop allowing yourself to tell your Self that you are not good enough!!! And in 2017, I challenge you to do just that:

Each week in your ARTiculated Journal, create an ARTiculated Affirmation:

  • Open to a blank page and create your background.
  • Create a focal point somewhere in/near the center of the page. This should be art — drawing, painting, or collage. However you get it in there, it should be art.
  • Now, write an affirmative statement that relates to the art you created.

You can also choose to create a deck of cards. Either way, at the end of the year you will have 52 ARTiculated Affirmations. And there is also the journal hack of creating a section of 52 pages, using one page each week to create your affirmation. This keeps them together in one section of your journal for easy reference. And yes — you will need to refer to them. Often…

Challenge

I did tell you this blog is partly a challenge blog, right? This is a year long challenge that will have up to 53 winners:

  • One winner each month.
  • One Grand Prize Winner at the end of the year (2017).

In order to participate in the challenge and be entered to win a prize, you must:

  1. Create an ARTiculated Affirmation and post it to the ARTiculated Journaling Google+ Community by 11:00 p.m. ET on Saturday with the hashtag #ARTiculatedAffirmations
  2. Post your page to Instagram with the hashtag #ARTiculatedAffirmations.
  3. On the last day of every month, everyone who has posted to both Google+ and Instagram will be entered into a random drawing to win a hand bound, unlined notebook filled with Tomoe River Paper suitable to continue creating ARTiculated Affirmations in and designed to be carried with you.
  4. GRAND PRIZE SELECTION: In order to be considered for the Grand Prize, you must complete a minimum of 26 weekly ARTiculated Affirmations, which have been properly posted. Each ARTiculated Affirmation must be posted weekly. There is no waiting until the end of the year and posting 26+ pages… You must make a minimum of 26 weekly posts at any time throughout the year.

Stop giving negative self-talk free real estate in your mind! Create and use your ARTiculated Affirmations daily and see the different positive self-talk will make in your life.

WW: 52 Pictures Challenge

I bought myself a Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 camera to have some fun with my hobo…

If you’ve never heard of the Instax camera (what rock have you been under?), it’s the modern version of the old Polaroid cameras and gives instant pictures. The Mini takes credit card sized pictures — a great size for your hobo!

Yes: Sticking pictures in your hobo will bulk it up. But who doesn’t like a chunky hobo???

I plan on taking one picture of myself each week, probably on Sunday, and putting them in my hobo. Along with the picture, I will be journaling where I am at that moment in time, what I am working toward, and what is going on in my life and the world. I will also write that week’s goals.

20161210_202501

One of the reasons I’m taking a picture each week is that one of my goals is to take better care of myself. What better way to help ensure success than to see visual evidence? The pictures will be my “tracker” of sorts for this endeavor. I also want to be able to take impromptu pictures of my kids as we’re out and about. We often go for walks together through the nature paths in my town and there are many memorable moments with those two and my husband! Capturing those times and adding them to my journal enhances even more the value of that one book.

ARTiculated Journaling doesn’t always entail you drawing or painting a picture. Collage is very much a part of the process, and this can be considered collage although it’s only one picture per week being collaged onto the page. So, without further rambling LOL, here is the 52 Picture Challenge for 2017:

  • Take a picture of yourself once a week, on the same day.
  • Put the picture in your ARTiculated Journal and answer these questions (or choose questions of your own):
    • What made you feel calm today?
    • What are you grateful for?
    • What were 3 highlights of today?

The Challeng starts on January 1, 2017!

If you choose to join this Challenge and would like to share any of your pages with us, please join me in our Google+ Community, where you can safely share with us.

I am really looking forward to doing this challenge! It will keep me on my toes and moving toward my goals.
